Lyyra signs with Warner Classics

Warner Classics has signed an exclusive agreement with the all-women vocal ensemble Lyyra. The first recording under this new partnership will be a digital single of Vienna Teng’s evocative song The Hymn of Acxiom, set for release on 7 March in celebration of International Women’s Day.

Alain Lanceron, President, Warner Classics and Erato, adds:

“We are incredibly thrilled to be welcoming Lyyra to the Warner Classics family. Although only formed a year ago, they have quickly become one of the most compelling vocal ensembles in the world today, performing a range of repertoire across musical genres and inspiring change through educational programmes as much as their music. We are extremely excited to help bring Lyyra and their music to new audiences worldwide.”

Discography

From jazz to pop, and contemporary choral to world premieres, Lyyra’s recordings show an exploration of the broad texture and exhilarating range its talented members can create.

Someday We’ll All Be Free

Lyyra says: “In our current world of uncertainty, presenting Donny Hathaway’s ‘Someday We’ll All Be Free’ is Lyyra’s immense honor and great responsibility. The lyrics, written as a gift to Donny during a schizophrenic episode feels eerily current, yet timeless; ‘things are moving fast, hold on tight and you will last.’ Sometimes, the pathway out of a chaotic and dark time is connecting with your community with messages of hope and resilience. How often it is that these things can be found in music. So, ‘sing your greatest song, and you’ll keep going on.’”
