Lyyra: Elevating Voices, Expanding Horizons

With a rich, dynamic soundscape, Lyyra is comprised of six exceptionally talented women, redefining treble vocal music, and showcasing the boundless capabilities of the treble voice.

Lyyra is dedicated to performing at the highest musical standards across all genres, striving for authenticity in every note. From traditional choral works to jazz, pop, and folk traditions worldwide, Lyyra illuminates the richness of upper voice repertoire while celebrating the full spectrum of American music.

Founded to address the scarcity of opportunities for women in professional choral music in the USA, Lyyra is committed to empowering underrepresented voices in performance, composition, and representation. This devotion extends to the next generation through impactful education programs, ensuring these values resonate far beyond the stage.

Lyyra's mission aligns with The VOCES8 Foundation's global vision: delivering world-class concerts and fostering meaningful educational outreach. Through their dedication, workshops, residences, masterclasses, and work with schools, universities, community organizations, and more, Lyyra forges lasting connections with musicians across the USA, inspiring communities and nurturing the future of choral music.

St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Houston played host to Lyyra’s debut concert on February 16, 2024. The group’s launch day was also marked by the release of its debut video single “When The Earth Stands Still” by Don Macdonald and the world premiere performance of “More Love,” written for Lyyra by Taylor Scott Davis.

Lyyra joined colleagues VOCES8 to perform at the American Choral Directors Association conference in Providence last February before setting off on its first US tour in April. Preceded by single and video releases, including works arranged for Lyyra by its own members, Lyyra released its debut EP, More Love, on May 10 in time for Mother’s Day.

Lyyra is produced for VOCES8 Records by Barnaby Smith and Paul Smith, and its Creative Director is Erik Jacobson for The VOCES8 Foundation USA.
